Marc Thomas
Chief People & EQUITY Officer
Marc Thomas serves as Educational Alliance’s Chief People and Equity Officer. In this role, he provides strategic direction and operational leadership for all aspects of People and Culture (HR), Legal, Compliance/Risk Management, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). He oversees the development and execution of agency-wide programs and initiatives in the areas of compensation, benefits, talent development, talent acquisition, HR information systems and analytics, employee engagement, and agency-wide compliance and risk management. He and his team are focused on creating an environment where employees can thrive and equip the Agency for maximizing impact in our community.
Marc joined EA in 2021 as Director of People and Culture, where he led HR activities, including talent acquisition, talent management, employment, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations, union contract negotiations, and labor relations. Prior to that, Marc was the Deputy Director of Human Resources at Natural Resources Defense Council, where he implemented HR strategies and processes to drive employee engagement and support short- and long-term organizational objectives. Prior to NRDC, Marc was a Senior Vice President in Human Resources at Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital supporting global distribution. He started his career at Kidder, Peabody.
Marc earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Concordia Lutheran College. He lives with his husband, Myles, and daughter, Ashley, in New York City.
