EDUCATIONAL ALLIANCE PARENT SCHOLAR FUND
Research shows that the education level of a parent can impact a range of child outcomes, including language skills, behavior, happiness, and mental health. At Educational Alliance, we’ve always built programming around the notion that children and parents succeed together. That’s why we have started the Parent Scholar Fund, so that parents of children in our Head Start program can go to college and make a better life for themselves and their families. We believe parents in our program will be our future small business owners, nurses, real estate managers, and non-profit leaders, who can change their community from the inside out. The Parent Scholar Fund will provide participants with free childcare, a laptop, a WiFi hot spot, a MetroCard to get to school, an academic tutor, and other supports. The cost per student will be $12,000 a year and Educational Alliance will offer these scholarships to 40 parents a year.
